Development Studies Department at our campus offers first two-year (four semester based) Masters in Development Studies Professional Degree Program from Fall-2004. The degree is a well-recognized qualification for gaining jobs, building on established careers, or developing research expertise in related fields.
Aim and objective
The aim of the two-year Masters program is development of junior and mid-level professionals, managers, practitioners, consultants, teachers and students.
On completion of the Masters Program, the candidates will have an enhanced professional intellectual grounding and practical skills as well as a competitive edge for job opportunities in both the government and private sectors. This includes non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), multi-lateral and bi-lateral institutions and organizations, donor and support organizations/agencies, Multi-National Corporations (MNC’s), other aid and development-related agencies, institutions and organizations.
The objectives of Masters in Development Studies Program includes providing prospective students/candidates with:
- an in-depth appraisal of the current and emerging development paradigms
- ability to approach and identify micro-development issues
- economic and political transformation
- and social, cultural and political changes particularly focusing on their relevance for Pakistan
- project planning and management skills
- knowledge & skills of conducting action research and surveys
