| Department of Electrical Engineering |
|
|
| Overview |
|
The Department of Electrical Engineering began five years ago and has made big strides in its brief span of existence. CIIT offers conducive environment for studying various disciplines of Electrical Engineering. Our curriculum is unique in that it enables students to learn techniques required to solve complex engineering problems and at the same time equips them with managerial and professional skills.
One of the main aims of the department is to actively achieve gender mainstreaming in our programs. Women are doing remarkable work in the engineering world today. Now that fields such as Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, and Electronics Engineering are offering congenial work environments for females, there is an increased demand from the female students to enroll in the Engineering Department courses. CIIT encourages and welcomes female enrollment and increase in their ratio in its engineering programs.

| Research & Development |
|
The Department of Electrical Engineering has shown tremendous
achievements in academic and research and the overwhelming interest of the
public to get admission in the EE department is a proof of this reality. The
department is accoutered with the most sophisticated labs of Analog Electronics
Laboratory, Digital Logic / Microprocessor Laboratory microwave systems, high
performance power supplies, control systems, computer architecture and
organization, VLSI, Asics, general circuit design and embedded systems, control instrumentaion, laboratory, power lab and image process lab.
Networking laboratory is designed to simulate WAN’s by using managed switches
and routers. Also a mechanical workshop is established to facilitate the students with mechanical setup. The department is involved in various important research areas of
telecommunications and Digital Signal Processing. In order to conduct research
in the area of Telecommunication Engineering, a Research and Development group
is established and it has already started R&D work. The department also
intends to work on DSP related projects. Research in the area of MIMO (multiple
input multiple output) systems is underway in collaboration with DeMonfort
University UK. Further research and development in the field of
Telecommunication and signal processing is going to be started in near future
in collaboration with NESCOM.

| Nationwide Exhibition EMCOT |
|
EMCOT 2007, third of its nature, is the exhibition and competition organized by the Electrical Engineering Department. For the National Projects Competition, 19 universities participated with 110 projects and 300 students. Three informative seminars were conducted followed by the Panel Discussion and the topic was “Future trends in electrical engineering curriculum”. Eight Leading Industries of Pakistan displayed stalls for the industrial exhibition.
