Objectives

Twenty-first century science and technology envisage hopes, fears and ethical challenges that with scientific and technological advances the humanity has reached a "defining moment" in our dominion over the planet and our ability to sustain or destroy it through our behaviour and actions. Impacts of climatic change are inevitable. Other issues of great concern are climatic change, national resources degradation, energy and food crisis, lack of potable water and improved sanitation, natural and man-made disasters and conflicts among nations. As custodian of our planet and its resources we should do more to counter these danger ravaging the biosphere.
Since 2005, Environmentally Sustainable Develop-ment (ESDev) conference has been regularly held alternate year. The first two conferences successfully addressed the vital issues of today, the Environment and Sustainable Development. The forth coming conference ESDev-2009 is again aimed at:

- Exploring the linkages among the environment, sustainable development & society.

- Finding technological solutions in environmental remediation, alternate energy resources and resource management.

- Promoting the integration of environment, sustainability, resources development in education in support of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainability, adopted for 2005-2015.
