COMSATS Information Technology Center (CITC), 11-12 May 2010

COMSATS Information Technology Center (CITC) organized Conference of Software Enterprise (CSE) during TechnoMoot 2010, one of the mega events organized by CIIT Abbottabad on May 10-11, 2010. The event was attended by large number of eminent scholars from all over the country. CITC organized several seminars and exhibitions during the event.

The 5th CSE 2010 provided an opportunity to get an insight into the Pakistani Software Industry. Several leading software companies from Islamabad, Peshawar and other cities exhibited their products at the event. CSE provided an excellent opportunity to the software companies and other IT solution providers to market their products to a wide range of audience including the Hattar Industrial Area, Universities and Medical Colleges, NGOs, Hospitals and Government organizations. CSE was attended by CEOs, IT Executives, Project Managers, Industry Executives, Policy Makers, Government Officials, University Deans, Directors and Professors, Researchers and Students.

The Conference of Software Enterprises is one such endeavor which has been quite successful in fostering close ties between academia and industry. CIIT recognizes the importance of this liaison and feels that much needs to be done to stop the two from working in seclusion. CSE had been successful in breaking the ice and commencing fruitful discussions among university professors and industry executives.

The participating students had a chance to mingle in with the software professionals and got a good understanding of the software products and services. On spot CV collection and short listing was also done, which shall then be forwarded to interested software companies. Following companies and universities participated in the event:

 On Spot Interviews

The Pakistan’s leading name in call center industry “IONS” group of companies participated in grand exhibition of CES 2010.

IONS were interested in hiring fresh graduates in their management and other positions like HR managers and marketing managers. They showed keen confidence in the CIIT quality of education and requested to arrange for on spot interviews and direct hiring of CIIT graduates.

Considering it as an opportunity for CIIT Abbottabad graduates, CITC arranged for on spot interviews which attracted CIIT fresh graduates and participants of acse-2010.

Lucky Draw

A lucky draw was also conducted at the CSE for the students. Purpose of conducting this activity was to encourage the students to attend the software exhibition and to make a gathering at the event. A girl from DIT Course (Zakat Course) won a surprise gift in this lucky draw activity.

CSE Exhibition

Software exhibition for CSE was organized on first floor of Z Block in two separate rooms. More than 15 stalls were arranged in each room. Some of the stalls were arranged in corridors. Whole venue was beautifully decorated with banners, posters and other promotional material.

Mr. Waqar Ayub, Commissioner Hazara Division visited the venue at 10:00 AM. He was accompanied by Dr. S.M.Junaid Zaidi, S.I, Rector CIIT, Dr. Khan Gul Jadoon, Director CIIT Abbottabad, Professors and some administrative officers. Participants commended efforts of CIIT Abbottabad for organizing such a fruitful event.

Professor Dr. Mussarat Shah, Ex-Vice Chancellor, UET Peshawar and Campus coordinator, UET Abbottabad Campus graced the event as the Chief Guest. He was quite appreciative of all arrangements made by CIIT Abbottabad and the products displayed by all participating companies in the event.
