| Introduction |
MS in Sustainable Water Sanitation Health and Development is a two years study programme. COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Abbottabad in collaboration with together with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Tribhuvan University Nepal is going to be the first educational institute around the world to offer this programme. The programme will be run parallel in the three universities. The programme is funded by Norwegian Government and also offers limited number of fully funded studentships. |

The programme on “Sustainable sanitation, Health and Development” will provide the skill, and knowledge required to monitor and evaluate plan and implement strategies for sustainable sanitation and development. The curricula of the programme are developed in collaboration with the employers in response to the increasing demand of the market and with the appropriate blend of foreign skill and creativity and local culture. The master programme is intended to provide options of solutions to the complex issue of sanitation of today and of the future. The scheme of study will address the interdisciplinary theme pertaining to sustainable sanitation, health and development.
The programme revolve around model that incorporate technical, ecological, institutional and cultural aspects of sustainable sanitation. |
| What specializations are available? |
This course is designed for graduates of natural sciences, social sciences, engineering and related discipline who are intended to pursue careers in sustainable sanitation. The programme includes study modules, group works and individual project. The students shall have the opportunities to specialized in areas such as;
- Rural/urban sanitation
- Ecological sanitation
- Natural treatment of wastewater and reuse
- Community water supply
- Water conservation/rainwater harvesting
- Sanitation, health and rural development
- Policies, institutions and governance

| What are the career opportunities? |
The scholars graduated from the programme will acquire skills to plan, design, implement, manage and communicate appropriate technical solutions suitable to both urban and rural contexts and hence act as proactive team players committed to achieving the Millennium Goals with respect to water and sanitation. Therefore a range of UN and other international sanitation and water supply organizations, government departments and agencies, forums of ecological sanitations, consultants firms, local governments and policies and research organizations are the potential areas for employments for the graduates from this programme. |
