Main aim of the Mathematics department is the discovery and creation of new mathematical
knowledge. Although some mathematical research is directly applicable to other fields, much
of it gets significance from its place on the magnificent intellectual edifice that is modern
mathematics.
Graduate: MS and PhD

MS in Mathematics

Program at a glance

The duration of studies for the MS Degree shall normally be not less than one and half year
and not more than three years.
The MS in Mathematics Program is consist of 24 credit hours (courses with three credit
hours each) and 6 credit hours of thesis. The students have to take courses from the following
list with the prior approval of Department.

Degree Requirements

16 year Degree in Mathematics from an accredited institutions.

Ist Division in M.Sc
Maximum One 2nd Division in Career
No Third Division

Satisfactory performance in GRE or in a written test and interview conducted by the
Department Admission Committee.

PhD

Program at a Glance

The duration of studies for the PhD degree shall not be less than three years and not more
than five years.

Degree Requirements

• An Ms / M Phil or its equivalent degree in Mathematics from an accredited educational
institution with at least B grade.
• Satisfactory performance in the international (wherever available), or in a written test
conducted by the Department Admission Committee.
