Seminar on Corporate Governance in Banks at CIIT Abbottabad

Finance Group of the Department of Management Sciences, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad arranged a seminar on Corporate Governance in Banks on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Azeem Shahzad Memorial Hall. Mr. Arshad Mehmood Bhatti, Joint Director, Banking Supervision and Enforcement Department, State Bank of Pakistan was the Guest Speaker of the seminar. The audience of the seminar was the Finance faculty, students of MBA, BBA and MS classes. Mr. Jamil Anwar from Management Sciences Department organized this seminar.
Dr. Mushtaq Khan Jadoon, Head of Department, Management Sciences welcomed all the guests and thanked the speaker for sparing his precious time and attending the seminar. He hoped that it will be beneficial for our faculty and students to get practical exposure of the subject.
Mr. Arshad Bhatti highlighted the following aspects of Corporate Governance in Banks
- - Board’s place in the Governance Framework
- - Roles & Responsibilities of the Board
- - Role of Chairman and CEO
- - Qualification, legal and regulatory requirements for Directors / Boards
- - Board Sub-committees – (Audit Committee) and
- - Evaluation of Board
The session was very interactive and participants especially students asked very relevant questions which were highly appreciated by the speaker.
Dr. Amjad Farid Hasnu, Professor, Department of Management Sciences, CIIT Abbottabad gave the concluding remarks and thanked the Guest Speaker. In the end, the HOD presented COMSATS souvenir as a token of relationship to the Chief Guest.
Department of Management Sciences and other Departments of CIIT Abbottabad have regularly been organizing very informative and enlightening seminars and conferences for creating awareness about various issues which are necessary for the education of students and for the development of faculty of CIIT Abbottabad campus.
