Halls of Residence /Hostel Facilities

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Abbottabad is providing boarding facility to its students. In this regard there are Three Blocks to accommodate approximately 640 male students and one blocks for more than 100 female students. The Rooms are spacious and lawns in front of every block provide an optimum environment to students for pursuing their quest for knowledge. Female Boarding blocks are surrounded with barbed wire for security and are provided an independent and free environment. A Lady Warden stays 24 hours in the hostel for supervision.

Boarders have their own mess, which is run by themselves. They prepare the Menu and control the Quality of Food. There is a committee of students which decides all the matters relevant to the Mess. Students have to seek permission to go outside the Institute premises and female students require the approval of the warden and the Provost to go outside the Main Gate.

Canteen and Café:

Hygienic and healthy food and snacks are provided to the day scholars, boarders and staff / faculty members by the mess and cafeteria. The mess and café are both managed by the institute, where all food items are provided at subsidized rates. A boarder can avail these facilities at a reasonable rate of Rs. 1100/- per month.

To ensure quality and hygiene of the food a student’s mess committee is formed which looks after the menu selection and quality of service. The facility remains open to the users from 07:00 to 20:30, seven days a week.

Sports and Recreation center

CIIT Abbottabad has always tried to maintain a balance of academic and extracurricular activities in order to groom our students into future professionals who are mentally, emotionally and physically ready for the competitive world of IT.

A) Fields and grounds:

By the grace of Allah, CIIT Abbottabad has large areas that are custom designed and well maintained as grounds, fields and courts for different sports activities like Cricket, Football, Volley Ball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Athletics. For management, and promotion of each Sport a faculty members has a permanent charge. These faculty members are aided by sports coordinators selected from each class.

Considering the fact that extracurricular activities provide students with important opportunities for personal development and growth outside the classroom. CIIT Abbottabad campus has developed many modern and non conventional facilities for the students.

B) Wall-Climbing

25 feet high out door wall has been constructed for wall climbing and repelling training and competitions.

C) Fitness and Weight Training Center for boys

A modern facility comprising all the necessary machines and equipment is available for the students. The students can use these facilities by paying nominal charges and becoming members of the fitness center. The up gradation and development of this facility is being done continuously.

D) Ladies GYM

An excellent facility for female students to carryout fitness program has been setup at the campus. GYM is equipped with exercise machines, indoor climbing board and weight training equipment.

An adventure club has been established for the students who love out door activities like rock climbing, camping, tracking/hiking and mountaineering. Membership count has reached up to 350.

Parking and Transport Services

A big open area of the campus has been developed as the parking lot for the staff, faculty, students and visitors(free-of-charge). The faculty and staff members have been assigned specific parking sheds for their regular use. Visitors and students may park their vehicles in their specifically allotted lots. The Parking For parking and traffic violations strict disciplinary action is taken by the university. Area is well managed and has special security arrangements.

Transportation Service is responsible for all administrative functions relating to the management, maintaining and planning of campus parking lots, parking garages and shuttle service; the issuance of parking permits; the collection of administrative enforcement charges.

Counseling and Educational Services

The counseling office provides cost free individual counseling to students attending CIIT programs. Professional counselors are available to assist students in addressing personal as well as educational concerns. Students are encouraged to develop coping skills, to deal with problematic issues and to identify meaningful personal goals and the steps necessary to achieve these goals.
Counselors provide caring and supportive assistance that is respectful of the student’s cultural background and tailored to the specific needs of the individual student.

Other Facilities

CIIT provides for the students, the day-scholars and the boarders, certain facilities on campus like PCO, a barber shop and a campus shop which provides commodities for daily consumption. Present on the campus, adjacent to the boys hostel is a beautiful spacious mosque. In addition to the five daily prayers, there is arrangement for Friday prayers also.
